A Wonderful Day Out for Ashley Gardens Residents

Sometimes, the simplest days create the most wonderful memories.

Recently, our residents at Ashley Gardens Care Home in Eastbourne enjoyed a lovely day out at Hampden Park, filled with sunshine, fresh air, friendly conversation and plenty of smiles. But what made the day especially meaningful was that the idea came directly from our residents.

A Day Out Chosen by Our Residents

Our residents suggested a visit to Hampden Park to enjoy the outdoors, feed the ducks and finish the afternoon with a delicious ice cream. We loved the idea and were delighted to make it happen. Days out like this are an important part of life at Ashley Gardens. At Ashley Gardens, we believe that meaningful activities and days out are an important part of everyday life. We encourage our residents to make choices, follow their interests and enjoy experiences that bring them happiness and connection.

Enjoying the Fresh Air and Sunshine

The sunshine made the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon at the park.

Residents enjoyed taking in the peaceful surroundings, chatting with one another and watching the birds and ducks by the water.

There was no rush. Everyone had time to enjoy the moment, take in the scenery and simply be together.

Feeding the Ducks 🦆

One of the highlights of our Hampden Park outing was feeding the ducks.

There were plenty of smiles as our residents got closer to the water and watched the ducks and birds come over.

It may have been a simple activity, but it brought so much happiness and created another lovely memory to share.

At Ashley Gardens, we believe that meaningful activities don't always need to be complicated. Sometimes, a walk outdoors, watching nature or sharing a laugh with friends is all it takes to make a day special.

A Special First Visit for Roy ❤️

The day was particularly memorable for Roy, who had never visited Hampden Park before.

Although he wasn't initially sure about joining the outing, he decided to come along — and we're so glad he did.

Moments like this remind us how valuable it can be to try something new and enjoy an experience with others.

Ice Cream, Tea and Happy Conversations

After exploring the park, we headed to the Tea Chalet for a well-deserved treat.

Residents enjoyed choosing their favourite ice creams, along with tea and coffee, while relaxing and chatting together.

There was plenty of laughter, conversation and happy faces — the perfect way to finish our afternoon.

More Than Just a Day Out

Our visit to Hampden Park was about much more than simply visiting somewhere new.

It was about choice, friendship, independence and enjoying everyday life.

Most importantly, the outing began with an idea from our residents. Seeing their suggestion become a real day out made the experience even more special.

At Ashley Gardens Care Home, we want our residents to continue enjoying the things that matter to them, discovering new experiences and creating memories along the way.

Our Hampden Park outing gave us plenty of reasons to smile, and we're already looking forward to our next adventure.
