Joyful June Moments at Ashley Gardens

June at Ashley Gardens was packed with laughter, connection, and heartfelt moments. From our playful celebrations to meaningful community outreach, here’s a little peek into the warmth and joy we shared this month 

🥐 Sausage Roll Day – A Tasty Treat! 

We don’t usually start a story with food, but this one’s worth it! This June, we had a sizzling good time celebrating Sausage Roll Day here at Ashley Gardens, and what a hit it was! Everyone, including us (as you can see in the photo – Yes, that’s me and Sue enjoying every bite!), absolutely loved it. 

Our talented chef Orlando treated us to his famous homemade sausage rolls, fresh out of the oven and packed with flavour. The residents couldn’t get enough, warm smiles, happy bellies, and plenty of compliments for the chef filled the day 

🎯 Bean Bag Toss Delight 

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the biggest smiles. We had a fantastic time during our Bean Bag Toss activity, a simple game that brough lots of laughter cheering, and a bit of friendly competition to the home! :) 

It was wonderful to see so many residents getting involved, and we were especially delighted to welcome our newly admitted resident, Iris, who jumped right in and thoroughly enjoyed herself. 

She showed great aim and even scored a few impressive throws!  

🐄 World Milk Day  

We had a moo-velous time celebrating World Milk Day this month, and while we didn’t have a real cow to milk, No cow? No problem!  

Sue made sure the fun wasn’t missed! She got creative and crafted a cardboard cow, complete with ‘milk’ and all. 

Residents couldn’t stop laughing as they took turns milking the cardboard cow, bringing smiles, chuckles, and a few funny stories from the past. It turned out to be more than just activity, it was a wonderful way to reminisce and enjoy each other’s company. 

🍰 Trip to the Connection Cafe 

This month, we had the pleasure of hosting a delightful afternoon tea at the Connection Café, where we met so many lovely members of the community. It was a heartwarming experience to spend time with the wonderful members who regularly attend the café. 

We brought along a delicious selection of cakes and sweet treats, which were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We were touched by how thankful everyone was for our visit, and we left just as grateful for the opportunity to connect! :) 

🎂 Birthday Celebrations 

This month, we had the joy of celebrating the birthdays of two of our lovely ladies, Joyce and Val. Both had their birthday celebration with their families, making the day extra special. 

Both enjoyed their dedicated cake, beautifully made and decorated just for them, and of course, no birthday is complete without a sparkly crown to mark the occasion 

🌈 Rainbow Run for St Wilfrid’s Hospice 

This month, I had the privilege of leading our wonderful team as we took part in the Rainbow Run in support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice. It was a day full of colour, energy, and community spirit, all in aid of a fantastic cause close to many of our hearts. At Ashley Gardens, we believe that caring goes beyond our walls, while we’re deeply committed to supporting our residents every day, we’re also passionate about giving back to the wider community whenever we can. 

I’m incredibly proud of our staff who joined me on the day. Together, we ran, laughed, and most importantly, help raised awareness and support for the vital work done by St Wilfrid’s Hospice. 

🌞 Hello Summer! 

We welcomed the first day of summer in the best way possible, with sunshine music and ice lollies in the garden! It was a beautiful day, and both residents and staff took full advantage of the warm weather and cheerful atmosphere. 

📚 Staff Training & Excellence 

This month, our dedicated team took part in their refresher training, reinforcing the high standards of care we provide every day at Ashley Gardens Care Home. The sessions covered several key areas: Medication Administration, Challenging Behaviour with Dignified Breakaway Techniques, and Safeguarding with Vulnerable Adults. 

Every month at Ashley Gardens is full of purpose, care, and community—and June was no exception. We’re grateful to share these special moments and look forward to the year ahead with continued warmth, connection, and heartfelt memories.
